Bronx Eye Care

At Urban Eyes, our Bronx eye care professionals truly care about your health, comfort, safety, and satisfaction with our service. That is why we work so hard every day to offer you unbeatable eye care. Our team of staff here at Urban Eyes feel it is important for our patients to be aware of the most common eye conditions so that you can recognize symptoms of these disorders and look out for them, and can come to see our specialists if you feel that you may have one of them. Some of the most common eye conditions are refractive errors, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. These three refractive errors can each be detected in a routine eye exam at Urban Eyes, and usually can be corrected quite easily using contact lenses, eyeglasses, or corrective surgeries such as LASIK.

Another common eye condition is glaucoma. Glaucoma is a group of related eye conditions that together are one of the leading causes of blindness in adults. The most common type of glaucoma does not exhibit noticeable symptoms because the vision loss is so gradual. Glaucoma can be detected during a routine eye exam with our Bronx eye care specialists at Urban Eyes by measuring your intraocular pressure. If it is abnormally high, it could indicate that you are developing glaucoma and we will handle it accordingly.

Another common eye condition that we see in our older patients is cataracts. If you are developing cataracts, you may notice that your vision has become cloudy, making it difficult for you to perform everyday activities. Cataracts develop slowly often without disrupting your vision at first, but can be very disruptive to your vision later on. Fortunately, our Bronx eye care experts will be able to diagnose and remove your cataracts easily through a fairly simple and often successful surgical procedure. If you suffer from diabetes, you are at risk for developing diabetic retinopathy, which is a condition that affects the retina and can eventually lead to blindness. We can also detect diabetic retinopathy during an eye exam at Urban Eyes.
